This Sword in the Stone Prop features Excalibur protruding
from the proverbial stone it was encapsulated in. The

After selecting this theme for your party, choose a slogan
to use in your invitations, and to use in tying in
decorations and favors to your knight theme. Brainstorm with
the birthday child to come up with the perfect slogan for
your party or try the one below.

What to Wear
As brave knights, prepare guests to valiantly defend their
kingdom dressed in luxurious capes and helmets. A sword and
shield will protect them from even the fiercest dragon!
Princes, and Dukes will also enjoy slaying dragons with
swords. We made swords out of wood for my granddaughters

with jewels. They were the hit of the party.
While the handsome young princes and knights decorate a
shield…every knight's most treasured possession. Have the
princesses at the party decorate
barbettes. Fun activity and
great favors for your guests to take home.

are a fun activity for any party. Your
Knights will love slaying a

This castle version of a classic egg
hunt is a kingdom-wide search for dragon
eggs as opposed to Easter eggs. Make a
proclamation stating that the King has
asked all his subjects to help...a new
batch of fire-breathing dragons is about
to hatch in the magical kingdom! Use
plastic eggs, and for each egg found,
reward the children with one golden
or wrapped piece of candy. This game is
a perfect lead in for the next game.
the party, fill approximately 3-4
per child. After all the dragon eggs
have been found, gather the children
in a circle for a quick story about
the Knights of the Round table.
Starting with "Once upon a time, in
a magical kingdom, there lived a
brave Knight named (birthday boy),
etc. All were happy in the kingdom
until one day the King discovered
that one of the dragon eggs had
hatched and a mighty, fierce, ugly,
fire-breathing dragon was running
rampant! (Hold up a "cracked" egg
left over from the Dragon Egg Hunt).
The royal wizard mixed up a big
batch of "Palace Potion", and the
King needs the help of his Knights
to slay the dragon!" Have dad, or
another good sport, pose as the
dragon. A green shirt and some
"fire" (craft foam or orange
streamers) dripping from his mouth
make an appropriate costume. Have
all the subjects in the kingdom pelt
the dragon with the palace potion
(water balloons) as he runs and
growls at them. Guaranteed to create
squeals of delight...only dad gets
soaked...and everyone lives
A traditional tug-of-war with a castle
twist...divide the children into two
teams. Use dark blue
to create a realistic illusion of water.
Add a few plastic snakes and stuffed or
plastic alligators, and yell GO!
Knights, Horses and Cavaliers
This game is similar to musical chairs
in that when the rhythm stops an action
must be performed. In this game 2 equal
circles are formed, with one inside the
other. The people of the inside circle
will pair up with someone on the outside
circle and remain with that partner for
the rest of the game. The inside circle
will walk clockwise clapping their hands
and the outside circle, also clapping,
will walk in the opposite direction.
When the leader calls out Horses, the
individuals stop clapping and run to
find their partner. Once together, one
partner will go on all fours, like a
horse, and the other partner will
straddle their back. The last partner
group to form that position will be
asked to act out a simple situation of
their choice that makes use of a rider
and a horse. Once this game continues in
the same fashion as before. If Knights
is called, one partner will sit on the
other partner's knee. The partner
therefore has one knee up to be sat on
and the other on the ground for support.
If Cavaliers is called, then one of the
partners will lift their partner up into
their arms. However, one leg lifted by
their partner is allowed.
Knights of the Round Table
hoop and inexpensive
Sword. The players
should be in a circle with one knight in
the center with the sword. The knight
tries to touch a person in the circle
with the sword, run to the middle, put
the sword on the table ( hula hoop) and
get to their spot in the circle without
being touched by the sword. The person
touched has to chase the knight, get the
sword from the table and touch them with
it before they get to the spot or they
are the new knight. If for some reason
the sword does not land on the table,
the rest of the players must yell, "THE
SWORD IS NOT ON THE TABLE!" This means
the play is cancelled and the knight
must try again
