Create Lasting
1st Birthday Memories
The 1st year marks
a special milestone. Make sure your child's favorite characters are
there to decorate your table.
To incorporate the 1st birthday into any
theme, cut some large number 1's from bright colored paper and tape them
to walls & curtains.
Use a theme cake to match the party, add
a number 1 candle onto your cake or make a
cake in
the shape of a number one.
Use favorite photos of the birthday child
(from baby birth to current).
Use your child's favorite stuffed animals or toys that match your
theme and place these around the party
room.
If you can't find party ware to match your theme,
design your own party ware
and use a colorful theme-oriented fabric or sheet as a tablecloth.
Make placemats with a number one on them.
Use a Happy 1st birthday banner that matches your theme or use a
personalized birthday banner.
Use a poster for guests to sign and add
their best wishes. Dress your poster up with
themed stickers.
Balloons and
streamers to match party theme. Be extremely careful with balloons, they
are a major cause of choking in small children. Be sure to remove all
pieces of popped balloons immediately or any balloons that become
deflated.
Have your camera ready
and take lots of pictures. A one year old has absolutely no concept of
parties, despite the significance of the occasion. In later years
however, they will enjoy seeing pictures of this landmark occasion and
these photos will furnish your child's only recollection of this first
party. Take pictures of:
- Child in birthday
outfit prior to guests arrival.
- Front page of your
newspaper
- Birthday child with
each guest, makes a nice insert to send with Thank You notes.
- Birthday Child
eating cake and opening presents.
Entertain your little guests with
activities like: blowing bubbles, finger plays, activity songs, free
play time. Here are a few items that toddlers would enjoy playing with:
Games & Activities:
- Walker Races
- Crawl to the Ball
